You’ll put your Eye out Kid!!!

gal_xray_arrow.jpg

I found this X-ray online – apparently it was from China somewhere. Evidently a boy was accidentally shot in the eye brain by another boy’s arrow during archery practise. Kind of reminds me of “A Christmas Story” where everyone tells little Ralphie, “You’ll shoot your eye out kid” whenever he mentions that all he really wants for Christmas is a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun. Somehow this arrow was removed successfully and boy made a good recovery. Go here to see a much more gruesome image of the arrow in the kid’s head!

WOW! I don’t really know what to say but I keep wondering how exactly does an arrow go through your head and “miraculously miss” your brain? I mean its a wonderful thing it did but..how??

like a bullet it follows the curve of the skull -docs you’ll put your eye out comment reminds me of an annual rite of passage in HS Agriculture class-soph-sr years I had same teacher. AS soon as he spotted us coming in with the spear grass seed pods in our clothes (a lot of it grew near our classroom)we got to watch the “Eyes of Horror ” movie. It did have some teaching value as farm kids we handles ox-acetylene rigss, welders, power tools of all types, and some nasty level of industrial chemicals both in class and at home on the family farms.

The film had the obligatory shot of spear grass seed pods in eyes, eyes with welding burns, with various kinds of debris and foreign objects. But the really nasty ones were the chemical burns some of which looked like if the victim just tilted his head the eye would pour out of their skull.

Needless to say after we watchedit for a 3rd time it lost some of its shock value and it never diminished our love of spear grass fights.
