ERP in the News

Well, I guess my little blog has finally been “found” (although I could never hope to achieve the medi-blogging stardom of the likes of Nurse K or White Coat). I (as well as a few other ER docs) was interviewed by a reporter from AOL who writes for their Daily Finance site. The topic was “How to make your ER visit better” and I discussed various things you can do to make your visit to the ER less painful, what to expect, and what to do and not to do to get seen faster.

This article on AOL is how I ended up here! I’ve posted the link on my Facebook for my coworkers to enjoy. I’ll be a regular visitor. I love the blogs!

cool ERP!! Way To Go, now if we could get the word out about the docs like you, who go thru day in and day out lots of stress and dealing with non-emergencies and unruly patients, mabey you would start getting a bit more respect. I am happy for you that they did this interview!! t2ulater, Stacy

  3. WhiteCoat says:

Hitting the big time on AOL. Very cool.
Remember us little guys when you’re on Oprah, now.

  4. Hey, very cool. I actually read that article prior to your mention here. Congrats…I hope you get a lot of feedback from that.

  5. Doris says:

    Hey, I saw that yesterday!

    How cool is that?

    You have, indeed, arrived.

    >:)

  6. Nurse K says:

They always interview docs on this shit but everyone should know that it’s the NURSES who determine who gets seen first and who doesn’t. Just a reminder. Doctors just look at ESPN.com until a chart comes up in the rack. They could care less about triaging people.

  7. Dr. Grumpy says:

How come you didn’t mention lying on the floor and yelling “HEY! I’M ABOUT TO HAVE A SEIZURE!” as a way of getting brought back sooner?

  8. NurseKenny says:

Congrats on hitting the big time, ERP!

  9. whitecap nurse says:

Best two ways to get back quickly without having a life-threatening condition are actual vomiting (real only – no fretching) and actively seizing. We’ll probably throw you in a hallway bed just so the rest of the waiting room doesn’t get grossed out. But there are times the only way to get seen immediately is to stop breathing.

  10. ERP says:

Right Nurse K. I rely on my triage RN’s to bring in the ones that need to be brought in. Likewise, I rely on them to NOT rush back the cerum impaction!

  11. DreamingTree says:

Congrats on hitting the big time! The comments left for the article are very interesting. Buncha maroons…

  12. Rogue Medic says:

    Congratulations on the coverage.

  13. ER Junky says:

    ERP,
Who is doing all the work in your ER while you are blogging on line all day long? Did you tell the AOL interviewer that a good ER does not allow access to the internet?

  14. ERP says:

I blog at the end of my shift in the call room for the most part.
And we have internet access for all docs for things like Imaging on call and MD consult.

  15. Micky says:

So, it was you? I read it I started thinking about you.

  16. WWFD, R.N. says:

    Great article…some valid advice.

Thank you for addressing ER wait times and the quality of care delivered.

However, I must respectfully disagree on a few points.
