Listen Docs, I KNOW being on call sucks. I have to deal with whatever crap comes in at 2am too. Unfortunately that means that occasionally you’ll have to just come in and deal with cases you don’t like. It’s what you signed up to do when you became a doctor. It’s ethically and legally required you deal with things when you’re on call. It’s not a perfect system but it’s all there is right now. Sorry.

You now, I’ve always wondered that same thing. I mean, you *chose* to be a doctor, and had to know a certain lifestyle came with that choice.
Yes, Zoe, that is true. However, no one ever realizes (until they are in the middle of it) what kinds of really stupid stuff comes in at 2 am.
The doc in our tiny rural hospital acts as though we nurses hang out down at the local convenience store with signs inviting all the goofs in town to come in all night. He’s such a baby! We don’t like it any more than he does, but we’re professionals. He should be too.
