Man, I'm sure glad I wasn't deciding how to do the skin flap/closure on that puppy. What a mess!

*"not caring", not "mot".

Also, Doc, I think it was obvious that it wasn't your dog... otherwise we'd seriously need to worry about your patients.

Baaaaahhh! Denial is something nice, isn't it? Like the old ladies who present to their GP with some huge and horrible breast cancer that has ulcerated and taken up a large space on the chest.
Although I suspect that with pet owners, denial doesn't play a big a role as just mot caring enough, or not wanting to pay for the vet to do anything.

Looks like the biggest blood filled tick I ever saw. I know it isn't, but that is what it reminds me of...that horrifying moment.

You know *why* it was suddenly an emergency? it ulcerated, and was oozing on things. Surprised it didn't ulcerate sooner.

And yes, I am an LVT w/close to 20 years in the field. ;) That is the common scenario - but I haven't seen one THIS big before!

I hope this isn't your dog...you seem too conscientious to be that kind of owner.
