Me: “OK, Ma’am, it looks like everything came back fine. I think you can go home and follow up with your doctor next week.”
Patient: “Great!”
Patient’s Husband: “Doc, can’t you keep her for a few days, she is driving me NUTS!”

Ah, the truth comes out.
Should have told him to put her up (or himself) in a local motel for a couple of days – whole lot cheaper that way.
In my hospital the arguement would be:
“But the family is very insistant we need to raise our Press-Gainey scores. Can’t you just make it easy for all of us?”
Uh, no – unless you will send someone upstairs to discharge her tomarrow. And can’t you put in a central line just to make it easier on the medicine dept?
