I Feel Bad

Friday, September 14th, 2012

So I saw a young guy several months ago and I was pretty sure he was a drug addict and probably malingering. He had horrible rotting teeth and blistering sores of his lips and oral mucosa. I figured he had meth-mouth.
He had a healthy diet for narcotics. He had been supposedly to several doctors and dentists and no one gave him any specific diagnosis.
Anyway, I saw him again recently for a completely different reason and his mouth was all cleared up! Well, I feel like a schmuck because I found out he was diagnosed with Bechet’s Disease and everything cleared up with prednisone and methotrexate!
Now he’s off narcotics and doing well. Good for him. My bad.

Deadly!

Yes I know that your two year old probably can chew her food but some items are just too risky.

Namely grapes. They are the perfect size to occlude the airway! Make sure you cut them up before you give them to your toddler.

Nothing is scarier to me than having a kid come in with a completely blocked airway!

Pushing the Envelope

Me: “OK, sir, any more questions?

Mr Epistaxis (with his nose packed with a balloon): “Yeah, just one more very important one.’

Me: “Yes?”

Mr Epistaxis: “Can I drink?”

Me: “Sure”

Mr Epistaxis: “I mean beer”

Me: “Oh. Yeah, I guess, sure, why not?”

Mr Epistaxis: “Good. Can I drink two or three beers?”
